Networking with peers is what Winter Institute is all about.
Leading up to Wi7, follow all the event-related news in Bookselling This Week, and on the Wi7 Facebook page. You can also connect with other booksellers attending Wi7 in BookWeb’s Bookseller-to-Bookseller Forum.
One Institute, One Read
New for this year is One Institute, One Read: Robert Penn Warren’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, All The King’s Men. In early December, all attendees will receive a copy of the novel, courtesy of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Now is the perfect time to read—or to re-read—this classic, replete with Louisiana history and politics, and to share it with other Wi7 attendees throughout the event.
Working Groups
This year's Winter Institute introduces a new opportunity for peer interaction and collaborative learning.
Once registration closes in December, all attendees will be divided into working groups of 20 booksellers. ABA will provide you with your working group members' email addresses and give you access to a Wi7 Working Group Forum on this site.
On Friday at Wi7, each of the working groups will meet individually to brainstorm creative ways to take a model bookstore to the next level, and, in a final session, all attendees will see a presentation reviewing the afternoon's innovative work. Attendees will receive a short briefing memo with all the necessary background about the model bookstore when they check in at the Wi7 Welcome Desk.
Consultation Station
At Wi7's Consultation Station, bookseller attendees will be able to meet with representatives of ABA's affiliated business solution partners, POS vendors, and others. Click here for a list of participants in the Consultation Station, including contact information to make appointments. Please note, if you grant permission for Consultation Station participating companies to contact you directly when you register for Wi7, they will reach out to you via email before the event.
